Authorizing Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to accept funding for two employees to attend the second annual Empathy Symposium hosted by the Advancing Conservation through Empathy for Wildlife Network and Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, February 18 - February 20, 2020.

WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is a partner organization in the ACE for Wildlife Network, and is at the forefront of efforts to foster empathy for animals; and
WHEREAS, Woodland Park Zoo will host the second annual Empathy Symposium in Seattle, Washington; and
WHEREAS, Woodland Park Zoo, through a generous grant from the ACE for Wildlife Network funding partner, has offered to reimburse all travel costs - including lodging, meals and transportation - for two employees to attend the Empathy Symposium; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the Empathy Symposium will allow Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to further knowledge of empathy practices and the role of empathy in informal learning; learn about the work being done at other organizations since the last symposium; and build on conversations from previous meetings around structure and governance of the ACE for Wildlife Network; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the gift of all travel costs for two Como Park Zoo and Conservatory employees to attend the second annual ACE for Wildlife Empathy Symposium and sincerely thanks Woodland Park Zoo and the ACE for Wildlife Newtork funding partner for their generous gift.
