Honoring Margaret Egan, Chief Budget Analyst, for serving the City Council since 2005.  
 
Body
WHEREAS, Margaret Egan joined the City Council family as Chief Budget Analyst in August, 2005; and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret was previously the Finance Director/City Clerk for the City of New Brighton and the Finance Director for the City of Vadnais Heights; and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret is an avid bicyclist who rode her bike to work through extreme heat, rain, snow and sleet, inspiring her co-workers to share her enthusiasm, and walking the talk as she represented the City Council on sustainability issues; and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret was committed to representing the City Council's best interest in all areas of the City's budget; and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret successfully coordinated the Council's budget review process for six years, negotiating with the Administration and producing final budgets that were adopted unanimously by the Council; and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret managed the COPP program -- raising the professional standards of the contracting process and streamlining internal operations; and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret always brought professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to her work; and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret has been a significant contributor to the city's economic development and tax-base through her frequent visits to the downtown Saint Paul Starbuck's--earning the special recognition of a drink named in her honor (even though it was invented by someone else); and,
 
WHEREAS, Margaret will now be leaving her position with the City Council to enjoy her retirement playing tennis and spending quality time at her cabin;
 
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council thanks Margaret for her dedicated service to the Council and the residents of Saint Paul; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby declares Wednesday, March 23, 2011 to be Margaret Egan Day in the great City of Saint Paul, Minnesota.
