Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to be named as a Co-Applicant of Saint Paul Public Schools application to the Minnesota Department of Education, and if awarded, accept funds from Saint Paul Public Schools for the Flipside After School Program for Middle School aged youth, in an amount of up to $7,500,000 for September 1, 2023-August 31, 2026.
Body
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is prepared to accept co-applicant funds from the Minnesota Department of Education via Saint Paul Public Schools for Flipside, the After School Program; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide wages for Community Recreation Leaders working in the Flipside After School Program with Flipside; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide enhanced training opportunities for Community Recreation Leaders, Community Recreation Directors, and Community Recreation Coordinators in the Flipside After School Program; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will create an opportunity for Parks and Recreation to offer more quality programs to middle school youth in partnership with Saint Paul Public Schools; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to be named as a Co-applicant of Saint Paul Public School’s application to the Minnesota Department of Education, and if awarded, accept funds from Saint Paul Public Schools for the Flipside After School Program for Middle School aged youth, in an amount of up to $7,500,000 for 2023-2026.
