I spoke at the recent hearing expressing my support at that time. I hope that City Council will recognize Mr. Schroeder's sincere intentions to be good and exemplary neighbor in this endeavor. We, in Saint Paul as well as in the greater preservation community, are extremely fortunate to have a person of Tom Schroeder's character, vision, and means to ensure the future of this irreplaceable piece of the city's earliest architecture. I own the house at 278 Goodrich Ave., built in 1884, at the corner of W. 7th St. and Goodrich, just a few hundred feet from the Stone Saloon. I look forward to having the Stone Saloon, once again, be a present-day echo of its former use: a reminder to future generations that we were responsible stewards to the history and places of our extraordinary past.
