Accepting the gifts of travel, food, and lodging expenses, not to exceed $2,826, from The American Express Leadership Academy for William Tully of the Mayor's Staff to attend the American Express Leadership Academy in partnership with the The Corporation for National and Community Service, from November 13 to 18, 2011 in Washington, D.C.

WHEREAS, the Corporation for National and Community Service is partnering with the Center for Creative Leadership to sponsor the American Express Leadership Academy on November 13th-18th in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, the American Express Leadership Academy sponsors have provided funding to allow William Tully, staff to Mayor Coleman, to attend the Academy, paying his registration fees and expenses, including hotel accommodations, transportation and some meals; and
WHEREAS, the Corporation for National and Community Service has provided the remaining funding to allow William Tully to attend the Academy, paying his round trip airfare and per diem; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the Academy will fulfill a public purpose by giving the Mayor's staff the opportunity to meet with leaders in the fields of National Service and education from across the country and share strategies for engaging service members in local communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the City accepts the gifts of conference registration fees, airfare/ground transportation at a cost not to exceed $600, hotel at a cost not to exceed $1,800, and meal accommodations at a cost not to exceed $71 per day and appropriates them for use by William Tully; and be it
FUTHER RESOLVED, that the City thanks the Corporation for National and Community Service and the American Express Leadership Academy sponsors for their generous gifts.
