Authorizing the Police Department to accept a donation from the Saint Paul Police Foundation in the amount of $13,109 for equipment and training.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to help the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) in many ways including ensuring that public safety for our citizens remains the number one priority for our city; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation board of directors has approved the granting/donation of $13,109 to the SPPD, and
WHEREAS, $2,609 of the donation will be used by SPPD towards the purchase of tactical vests and helmets for the district force units most commonly used in executing search warrants and $10,500 of the donation will be used by SPPD for an online training program for all officers, the EVOC 101 (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course), focusing on street and intersection safety training; and
WHEREAS, use of the funds for these purpose will fulfill a public purpose directly related to the safety of the public and the police officers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts this generous donation, appropriates it to its intended use and extends its sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
