Recognizing Holly Huston’s career and dedicated service to the City of Saint Paul.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Holly Huston grew up in the Highland Park neighborhood of Saint Paul, where she attended Horace Mann Elementary School and graduated from Saint Catherine University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance; and

 

WHEREAS, Holly served as a Fiscal Analyst at General Mills where she created millions in cost savings and collaborated across plants and corporate departments; and

 

WHEREAS, Holly transitioned to public service focusing on municipal financing in Anoka County and Dakota County where she served in various capacities as an Accountant, Administrative Operations Coordinator, and Finance and Budget Manager; and

 

WHEREAS, in those roles, Holly not only saved taxpayers’ money, but implemented best budget management practices; and

 

WHEREAS, Holly continued to bring that leadership skill and fiscal responsibility to Saint Paul City Council when she was hired as the Chief Budget Analyst on November 30, 2015; and 

 

WHEREAS, during Holly’s tenure, she forged strong and trusting working relationships with her colleagues in Council offices, as well as the leadership of the Saint Paul’s administrative departments and key city staff; and

 

WHEREAS, during Covid 19 pandemic, Holly kept an eagle eye on the budget and changing financial landscape, ensuring all seven Councilmembers were well-informed when voting on key budgetary issues; and

 

WHEREAS, Holly is an avid ultramarathon runner who supports and motivates other runners, and has led countless yoga classes as a certified instructor; and 

 

WHEREAS, Holly is a role model for practicing healthy eating habits and has never consumed sugar or sweets of any kind; and

 

WHEREAS, Holly is a devoted mother who is proudly raising her boys Lincoln and Chase and is an adventure warrior with her husband Scott on, hiking and backpacking trips; and   

 

WHEREAS, Holly is leaving City Hall but not Saint Paul as she transitions into the Director of Lending Services for the Saint Paul Port Authority; and

 

BE IT RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council thanks Holly Huston for her years of dedicated public service to the people of Saint Paul; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, In honor of Holly Huston’s years of public service to the City of Saint Paul, March 15, 2023, will be known as ‘Holly Huston Day’ in the City of Saint Paul.
