Authorizing the Department of Public Works to apply for and accept funding from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s Level 2 Electric Vehicle charging station grant program for the City’s EV Spot Network Project.
Body
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is currently accepting applications through the Level 2 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station grant program; and
WHEREAS, the City has aging EV charging equipment that has reached the end of its useful life at various locations throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works proposes to submit an application to replace the aging charging equipment and incorporate the chargers into the City’s EV Spot Network Project; and
WHEREAS, the City is leading the EV Spot Network Project, in partnership with the City of Minneapolis, Xcel Energy and HOURCAR; and
WHEREAS, the Project will continue to grow the network of EV charging hubs across the City to support EV owners, both visitor and resident; and
WHEREAS, there is a required twenty percent local funding match to any project awarded to an agency under the MPCA grant program for stations in public places; and
WHEREAS, the EV Spot Network Project falls within the funding guidelines and meets the conditions and requirements specified for eligibility by the MPCA; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes submission of an application for grant funding from the MPCA’s EV charging station grant program and acceptance of funds if awarded; and be it finally,
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the commitment of funds for the local match if the project is awarded MPCA funds.
