Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR), to accept terms of receiving archery equipment valued at $3,600 to support Saint Paul’s archery program, with a local match required and provided by existing grant funds.
Body

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has selected Saint Paul Parks and Recreation to receive archery equipment, valued at $3,600, to provide archery programs and activities for youth and families; and

WHEREAS, said equipment will allow Saint Paul’s Department of Parks and Recreation to provide archery training to Saint Paul youth and families; and

WHEREAS, the DNR requires that the Department of Parks and Recreation enter into a cooperative agreement that details the conditions of receiving said equipment; and

WHEREAS, there is a local match required by the City for receipt of said equipment to cover half the cost of the equipment ($1,800): and

WHEREAS, the required match will be covered from the existing Cities Connecting Children to Nature (CCCN) grant; and

WHEREAS, said equipment will be used solely for providing archery classes and activities to Saint Paul youth and families; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to provide quality archery programming for Saint Paul youth has a public purpose; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said archery equipment and utilize said equipment in its programming; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes acceptance of the cooperative agreement and approves the expenditure of $1,800 to the MN DNR for its required local match; and, be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to execute the necessary cooperative agreement with the DNR to receive and utilize the archery equipment.
