Authorizing the proper City Officials to accept a gift stipend to attend the National Convening on Local Consumer Financial Protection in Philadelphia from Wednesday, July 6, 2022 to Friday, July 8, 2022.

Body

WHEREAS, The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund), with generous support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, will be hosting the National Convening on Local Consumer Financial Protection on July 7th - 8th in Philadelphia, PA., and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul was the recipient of a grant from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund in 2021, and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul utilized the proceeds of that grant to develop and conduct an Immigration Fraud Awareness Campaign for residents of the City; and

WHEREAS the CFE Fund has invited Saint Paul Assistant City Attorney, Edmundo D. Lijo, to make a presentation on Saint Paul’s Immigration Fraud Awareness Campaign at the National Convening on Local Consumer Financial Protection on July 7th -in Philadelphia, PA, and

WHEREAS, this Convening offers an opportunity to present on the Fraud Awareness Campaign and strategize on how local governmental entities can develop a pro-active agenda that will increase their ability to address consumer protection issues; and

WHEREAS, the CFE Fund has offered to pay for the transportation, meals and lodging expenses for Saint Paul’s representative to attend this Convening, and

WHEREAS, the educational and networking opportunities offered through this Convening would be of significant benefit to the City of Saint Paul and our residents, and

WHEREAS, participation in the National Convening on Local Consumer Financial Protection would provide an opportunity to acquire technical knowledge to develop and improve the City of Saint Paul’s consumer protection and community engagement programming, and

WHEREAS, the St. Paul City Attorney’s Office, wishes to send Assistant City Attorney, Edmundo D. Lijo to the National Convening on Local...
