Title

Authorizing the Department of Public Works Traffic Warehouse to amend the spending and financing budget for increasing 2022 spending authority as a result of rising, inflationary materials costs in the industry.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Traffic Warehouse purchases and stores materials used for maintenance activities involving street lighting, traffic signals, and pavement markings; and

 

WHEREAS, rising materials costs in the industry due to market inflation and extended delivery times have created an urgent need to purchase said materials in advance to reduce rising inflationary impacts and ensure material availability in 2023 & 2024; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $250,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2022 Traffic Warehouse budget; now

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, up on recommendation of the Mayor, that $250,000 is available for appropriation in the 2022 Traffic Warehouse budget, and said budget as heretofore adopted by Council, is hereby further amended by the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis;

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized to pay expenses incurred not to exceed $250,000 for restocking of materials in the Traffic Warehouse.
