Authorizing the Police Department to accept and amend the 2022 budget and activity for donations of $21,526.05 and $9,000.00 from the Saint Paul Police Foundation.

Whereas, the City of Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) has been offered donations totaling $30,526.05 from the Saint Paul Police Foundation (SPPF); and
WHEREAS, $21,526.05 will be used to purchase ballistic protection shields for SPPD Officers, thus providing protection as Officers seek to de-escalate situations involving weapons; and
WHEREAS, $9,000 will be used to purchase supplies for the SPPD’s Bike Cops for Kids program, thus enhancing the interactions between officers and the community by allowing police to repair bikes, give away helmets, and give out snacks; and
WHEREAS, there are no subgrants or match requirements associated with this donation; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 budget and activity budget need to be amended for this donation; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $30,526.05 in the Special Fund; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE City Council accepts this donation from the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
