Approving the new precinct boundaries and polling locations for 2022 as a result of redistricting.

AMENDED 3/23/2022

 

WHEREAS, the Charter Commission has completed the task of reestablishing ward boundaries following the results of the congressional and legislative district boundary changes, and

 

WHEREAS, the precinct boundaries and polling place locations need to be revised in part to accommodate the new legislative district boundaries provided in the final order of the Special Redistricting Panel on February 15, and

 

WHEREAS, the changes to ward boundaries will require adjustments to the city's precinct boundaries in preparation for the 2022 general election, see attached map; and

 

WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute section 204B.14, subd. 3 (d) requires that precinct boundaries be reestablished within 60 days of when the legislature has been redistricted or at least 19 weeks before the state primary election, whichever comes first, which means that March 29, 2022, is the deadline for the City Council to pass a resolution reestablishing precincts; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the attached proposed precinct boundaries "Final Metes & Bounds - City of Saint Paul - 2022" and polling place locations "Saint Paul Polling Locations March 22 2022" be adopted;

 

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these precinct and polling place designations will become effective on the date of the state primary on August 9, 2022.  Should further changes occur in the polling place locations between the date of this resolution and November 8, 2022, the Ramsey County Election Bureau is hereby authorized to find appropriate locations in which to hold the elections.   A postal notification will be sent to all registered voters affected by the changes.
