Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant from the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Department of Natural Resources, for the 2022 No Child Left Inside Grant.

Whereas, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has been awarded a 2022 No Child Left Inside Phase III grant with the State of Minnesota, Department of Natural Resources; and

 

WHEREAS, this $5000 grant will be used to cover the costs of the SPPD’s “Cops and Bobbers” program, operating as a component of the SPPD’s Police Activities League (PAL), in which SPPD Officers and Community Engagement Cadets take students from Saint Paul school fishing clubs on fishing excursions; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2022 budget and activity budget need to be amended for this grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $5,000 in the Special Fund; now

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Department of Natural Resources and approves these changes to the 2022 budget.
