Authorizing the Police Department to accept and amend the 2021 special fund budget and add an activity for the Auto Theft Prevention Grant SWIFT No. 194499 by the State of Minnesota Department of Commerce.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded the Auto Theft Prevention Grant SWIFT No. 194499 in the amount of $218,433.00 by the State of Minnesota, Department of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funds 50% cost of an Analyst position, salary and benefits for overtime patrols dedicated to auto theft prevention along with license plate reader and supplies; and
WHEREAS, the 2021 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for this grant award; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $218,433.00 in excess of those estimated in the 2021 budget and recommends the following changes; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into an agreement for this grant award and approves these changes to the 2021 budget.
