Authorizing a Temporary License between the City of Saint Paul and Shidler/West Finance Partners V for the Police Department's use of vacant commercial space for police canine training activities.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department ("SPPD"), on behalf of the City of Saint Paul, desires to enter into a temporary license (the "License") with Shidler/West Finance Partners V, Limited Partnership, which owns the commercial property at 235 Maryland Avenue East, Saint Paul (the "Access Property"); and
WHEREAS, SPPD desires to use the Access Property, which consists of a vacant former K-Mart store, for law enforcement training for the SPPD Canine Unit. The training will not cause damage to the Access Property; and
WHEREAS, the License provides for a term extending through September 15, 2021, for a one-time fee of $1.00; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that SPPD's use of the Access Property under this License will help facilitate valuable police training; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the proper city officials to execute the License in a form and content substantially as set forth in Exhibit A to Resolution attached hereto.
