Authorizing staff to apply for a grant from MnDOT's Local Road Improvement Program for the Lexington Parkway (Phase 2) project.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has partnered with Ramsey County to construct the Lexington Parkway (Phase 2) project in 2022; and
WHEREAS, federal funds have been secured for this project; and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Legislature passed a bonding bill in 2020, which includes funding for the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP); and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is currently soliciting statewide projects through a grant submittal process; and
WHEREAS, the Lexington Parkway (Phase 2) project is eligible for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Lexington Parkway (Phase 2) project will improve safety, allow for more efficient traffic flow, and provide better bicycle and pedestrian connectivity in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Lexington Parkway (Phase 2) project will provide more direct connections for all modes and for the transport of goods to and from local businesses; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul apply for the 2021 MnDOT Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) grant for the Lexington Parkway (Phase 2) project for the requested amount of $1,250,000.
