Authorizing the Department of Planning and Economic Development to execute grant agreements with the Metropolitan Council and the Department of Employment and Economic Development which includes an indemnification clause.

 

Body

[WHEREAS, the Department of Planning and Economic Development applied for and has received grant funding from the Metropolitan Council Livable Communities Tax Base Revitalization Account Grant, Livable Communities Demonstration Account Pre-Development Grant, and Livable Communities Transit Oriented Pre-Development Grant as reflected in RES 20-673, RES 20-674, RES 20-675 and RES PH 20-167; and

 

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council approved the following grant applications:

 

§                     Livable Communities Demonstration Account Pre-Development grant of $100,000.00 for 375 Selby - YWCA St. Paul Redevelopment;

 

§                     Livable Communities Demonstration Account Transit-Oriented Pre-Development grant of $100,000.00 for Keystone Community Food Site;

 

§                     Livable Communities Act Tax Base Revitalization Account grant of $111,800.00 for Fairview and University; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Planning and Economic Development applied for and has received grant funding from the Department of Employment and Economic Development Contamination Cleanup and Investigation grant as reflected in RES 20-646, and RES PH 20-167-; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Employment and Economic Development approved the following grant applications:

 

§                     Contamination Cleanup grants of $245,956.00 for Hazel Assisted Living (1105 and 1109 Hazel Street North), and $330,755.00 for Fairview and University (1845 University Avenue West); and 

 

WHEREAS, the grant agreements require the City to defend and indemnify the Metropolitan Council or the Department of Employment and Economic Development as a condition of receiving the grant funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in acceptance of the grant funds; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the proper City officials to execute agreements with the Metropolitan Council, and the Department of Employment and Economic Development, which include an indemnification clause, to accept and implement said grant funds.
