Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2019 Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety grant in the amount of $108,574.50 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for community risk reduction activities and fire prevention and education activities.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to support the Mayor's pillar of Community First- Public Safety and apply for the 2019 Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety grant to support technology to facilitate prevention and education activities, fire extinguisher training, and community risk reduction activities in a Covid-19 environment; and
WHEREAS, the total grant amount would be $108,574.50 of which the federal government would provide $103,404.29 for the equipment and the supplies; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a 5% match of $5,170.21 which would be paid from 10022300 - Fire Prevention over the grant period of performance, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2019 Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety grant.
