Approving the Mayor’s reappointments of John Cardoza, Gy Vameng Chajili, and Pete Verdeja to the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency board of commissioners.

WHEREAS, Chapter 228 Minnesota Laws 1977 states that the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency (“Agency”) Commissioners shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 228 Minnesota Laws 1977 provides that the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency shall consist of seven commissioners who shall be residents of the city and that five of the commissioners shall be non-tenant commissioners who shall each serve five-year terms; and
WHEREAS, on August 23, 2017 the City Council passed RES 17-1272 approving Mayor Chris Coleman’s appointment of John Cardoza as an elderly housing resident representative on the board of commissioners of the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency expiring August 19, 2019; and
WHEREAS, on August 28, 2013 the City Council passed RES 18-1658 approving Mayor Melvin Carter’s appointment of Gy Vameng Chajili to fill the remainder of a term as a family housing representative on the board of commissioners of the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency ending September 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, on October 12, 2016 the City Council passed RES 16-1745 approving Mayor Chris Coleman’s appointment of Pete Verdeja as a non-resident member of board of commissioners of the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency ending September 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, John Cardoza, Gy Vameng Chajili, and Pete Verdeja have expressed interest in being reappointed to second term as a member of board of commissioners of the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency and have been recommended for reappointment by the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency staff and resident councils; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Melvin Carter, in accordance with Agency bylaws, wishes to reappoint to the board of commissioners of the Saint Paul Public Housing Agency John Cardoza to a term ending September 1, 2021; Gy Vameng Ch...
