Accepting the gift of travel expenses from The United States Census Bureau for Toni Newborn and Christian Taylor to attend the Chicago Region Partner Briefing convening in Chicago, Illinois on October 28-30, 2019.

WHEREAS, The United States Census Bureau (“Census Bureau”) is the principal agency of the U.S. Federal Statistical System, responsible for producing data about the American people and economy. The Census Bureau’s mission is to serve as the nation’s leading provider of quality data about its people and economy; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago Regional Census Center invited 8 regional states to actively engage in preparation for obtaining a complete and accurate count of the upcoming 2020 Census and discuss strategies to reach out to historically undercounted communities; and
WHEREAS, Toni Newborn, Chief Equity Officer, and Christian Taylor, Policy Associate, were invited to attend to attend the Chicago Region Partner Briefing convening in Chicago, Illinois on October 28-30, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Census Bureau has offered to cover the travel expenses, lodging and meals for Toni Newborn and Christian Taylor to attend the briefing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance at this briefing is beneficial to the City by providing an opportunity for participants to engage in sessions to develop strategies, obtain relevant and up-to-date knowledge on Census operations and connect with Census staff; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of travel expenses, lodging and meals for Toni Newborn and Christian Taylor to attend the Chicago Region Partner Briefing convening in Chicago, Illinois and thanks the Census Bureau for its generous gift.
