Approving a transfer agreement with the Metropolitan Council to accept two traffic signal controllers for installation on University Avenue.
Body
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Council operates light rail transit (LRT) service along University Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Ramsey County and the Metropolitan Council have entered into an Operations and Maintenance Agreement defining the roles and responsibilities of each party with respect to the operations and maintenance of the LRT on the City and County Infrastructure in the City of Saint Paul subject to existing agreements; and,
WHEREAS, the County and the City have an existing joint powers agreement for roadway maintenance; and,
WHEREAS, under the joint powers agreement, the City of Saint Paul operates and maintains the traffic signals along University Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has requested changes to the operation of traffic signals along University Avenue at Eustis Street and Cromwell Avenue requiring replacement of the existing traffic signal controllers.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul is authorized by and through the joint powers agreement to enter into the attached agreement with the Metropolitan Council to accept transfer of two traffic signal controllers for use along University Avenue at Eustis Street and Cromwell Avenue; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proper City officials be and hereby are authorized to execute the attached agreement and any amendments, and thereby assume for and on behalf of the City all of the contractual obligations contained therein.
