Declaring August 25, 2019 to be Frank Louis Cruz Day.
WHEREAS, Frank Louis Cruz was born on August 25, 1934, to Francisco and Guadalupe Cruz; and,
WHEREAS, as a young child Frank moved to Saint Paul with his parents and seven siblings, adding another brother once there; and
WHEREAS, Frank served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955 and was honorably discharged; and
WHEREAS, Frank attended the following Saint Paul schools: Lafayette, St Luke’s, Assumption, and Roosevelt; and
WHEREAS, Frank proudly worked as a laborer, retiring from the Twin City Ammunition Plant, and was a member of Local #132 since 1951 and remains a member to this day; and
WHEREAS, Frank through his family met his wife Julia in Saint Paul, and in 1961 they married and proceeded to have seven children: Valerie, Linda, Julia (Julie), Daniel, Michael, Frank and Anthony (Tony), together they raised their family in Saint Paul, in addition he has countless beloved nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Frank has lived for over 48 years at 649 Winslow Ave on Saintt Paul’s historic West Side and has been an outstanding neighbor and friend to all in that neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Frank has been an ardent member and supporter of many Saint Paul organizations such as Our Lady of Guadalupe Men’s Club, AMVET Mexican American Veteran’s Post #5, the West Side Boosters; and
WHEREAS, Frank has lived a life in Saint Paul for almost 85 years as a caring and contributing citizen, husband, father, uncle, and neighbor in a manner that make Saint Paul a great place to live; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council, in recognition of and thanks for his long life as a proud and contributing citizen of Saint Paul, hereby declares August 25th, 2019, as Frank Louis Cruz Day in the City of Saint Paul, and hereby congratulates him and sends him best wishes.
