Amending section 411.05 of the Legislative Code pertaining to entertainment licenses.

 

Body

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:

 

SECTION 1

 

WHEREAS, the Downtown Alliance, Visit Saint Paul, the Business Review Council, local businesses and the community (“Downtown Community Members”) have met to discuss events and related regulations impacting downtown community members; and

 

WHEREAS, the Downtown Community Members expressed a desire for consistency between Saint Paul Legislative Code §411.05 and Saint Paul Legislative Code §409.11(b)(2); and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed amendments are reflective of the input received on regulations which impact Downtown Community Members and

 

WHEREAS, the proposed amendments will provide consistency between the number of temporary service extensions and one-day event licenses and petition requirements; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby ordain:

 

SECTION 2

 

Saint Paul Legislative Code sections 411.05 is hereby amended to read as follows:

 Sec. 411.05. - One-day license.

 

Any person may apply for a temporary Class A or Class B entertainment license valid for a twenty-four hour period. Such application shall be made in the manner prescribed in this chapter and shall be subject to the same requirements regarding inspection and floor space as provided elsewhere in this chapter. The fee for such license shall be as set forth in Saint Paul Legislative Code section 310.18. No location shall be granted more than three (3) such licenses per calendar year, except within the Downtown Entertainment District where no more than ten (10) such licenses shall be granted to a location per calendar year. Such licenses applications must comply shall not require the consent of owners and occupants of adjacent properties with the requirements laid out in Sec. 409.11(b).

 

SECTION 3

 

This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days following its passage, approval and publication.
