Stated Reason for Appeal (if given): She stated she originally received one small and one medium containers.  She think she shouldn’t be charged the amount on the delinquent bill because she should have gotten 2 small containers as there is only her in unit and her caregiver in another unit.  She says she now settled with Waste Mgmt and currently has 2 small containers for every other week.

Staff Comments: This property was delivered 1 35-gallon Small Weekly cart on 9/21/18 and 1 64-gallon Medium cart on 9/22/18. The cart size request received from the City's cart distributor indicated that this property would be assigned 1 35-gallon Small Weekly cart and 1 64-gallon Medium cart. Although the property owner has now swapped the 64-gallon Medium cart for a 35-gallon Small Every Other Week cart, the property received service for 1 35-gallon Small Weekly cart and 1 64-gallon Medium cart during Quarter 4 2018. The property owner is responsible for paying for the garbage service that was received.

AMENDED 5/22/19

 

WHEREAS, the Office of Financial Services Real Estate Section has attached to this Council File both a report of completion outlining the costs and fees associated with Trash Hauling during Collection of Delinquent Garbage Bills for services during October to December 2018. (File No. CG1901B4, Assessment No. 190060) and the assessment roll including all properties for which these assessments are proposed for Council ratification; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council’s Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed an appeal of this assessment and developed a recommendation for the City Council with respect to this assessment; and

 

WHEREAS, a public hearing having been conducted for the above improvement, and said assessment having been further considered by the Council and having been considered financially satisfactory; Now, Therefore, Be It

 

RESOLVED, that pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Saint Paul City Charter, said assessment is hereby reduced from $96.08 to $70.34, ratified and payable in one installment.
