Title

Authorizing the Police Department to accept grant funds through a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety, for the Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) wishes to enter into the Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Multi-Agency Law Enforcement Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA); and

 

WHEREAS, in entering into this agreement the SPPD will join a multi-agency task force intended to investigate and prosecute crimes committed against children and the criminal exploitation of children that is committed and/or facilitated by or through the use of computers, and to disrupt and dismantle organizations engaging in such activity; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into the Joint Powers Agreement and Assistant Robert Thomasser to implement this agreement with the State of Minnesota as substantially set forth in the attached.
