Pertaining to an Ordinance amending Saint Paul Legislative Code Chapter 18 to give authority to the Legislative Hearing Officer to hear appeals regarding water bills, fees and other charges imposed under the Water Code.
Body
WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners strives to be receptive to customers’ questions or concerns about their water bills, fees and other charges imposed under the Water Code; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners wishes to add a formal appeals process to the Water Code; and
WHEREAS, Board staff has prepared a City of Saint Paul Ordinance, which creates such an appeals process under Legislative Code Section 91.25; and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to have the Legislative Hearing Officer to hear such appeals, and the Legislative Hearing Officer has agreed to do so; and
WHEREAS, the assistant city attorney has prepared an amendment to Legislative Code Chapter 18 to give authority to the Legislative Hearing Officer to hear such appeals and approved said Ordinance as to form, and the Saint Paul Regional Waters Services General Manager recommends approval of said Ordinance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners does hereby approve the attached Ordinance amending Chapter 18 to add water appeals to the authority of the Legislative Hearing Officer; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners does hereby request that the Honorable Council of the City of Saint Paul approve and adopt such Ordinance.
