Amending the 2018 budget in the Mill and Overlay Street Maintenance Program. 

 

Body

WHEREAS, in 2018, the Right of Way Fund was restructured into the Street Maintenance Program and under this structure programs were realigned; and

 

WHEREAS, after a full year of service under this restructured maintenance program, Public Works has better costing data and there is a need to better align the Street Maintenance Program budget; and

 

WHEREAS, the Public Works Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan most recently revised January 13, 2016 does indicate that pedestrian ramp infrastructure will be evaluated and replaced as part of mill and overlay projects; and

 

WHEREAS, the additional costs related to pedestrian ramps are trending higher than the budget we allocated for them during development in early 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mill and Overlay budget will be increased by $384,000 to cover increased costs related to the replacement of pedestrian ramps, and

 

WHEREAS, the funding for the Mill and Overlay unit will be collected through street maintenance fees; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of St Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $384,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2018 Street Maintenance Program fund; and

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve the amendments to the 2018 operating budgets as detailed in the attached financial analysis.
