Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to enter into an extension of Amusement Park Management and Food Service agreements with Lancer Foods’, d/b/a Zooper Food, LLC, and Como Amusement, LLC, for services of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Lancer has been a long-standing partner at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory and through all revenue operations provides approximately $850,000 in annual support through commissions to the Campus; and

WHEREAS, Lancer Foods is investing $1,385,066 in the Zooper Food rebuild in part of the new Seal and Sea Lion habitat; and

WHEREAS, in part of this investment, Lancer requested to extend their existing contracts to offset this cost 10 years from the current termination date of 2026; and

WHEREAS, operations under the Food Agreement and Management Agreement, together with their amendments, are so intertwined that City believes that they should be performed by a single vendor; and

WHEREAS, City and Operator wish to combine the Management Agreement, as amended by the Management First Amendment and the Food Agreement, as amended by the First Food Amendment, into this Agreement, with an extended Term to acknowledge the additional significant investments Operator will make; and

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council has reviewed the Management Agreement which has been negotiated between the Department of Parks and Recreation and Lancer Foods, and finds that the public will benefit from the entry into the Agreement; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby authorizes the appropriate City officials to enter into the attached combined Management Agreement with the 10 year extension for termination date of 2036.
