Authorizing the Fire Department to accept the donation of 240 9-volt batteries from Energizer valued at $324.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Energizer, a manufacturer of batteries, has a public service campaign “Change Your Clock, Change Your Batteries” designed to educate consumers on the importance of replacing smoke alarm batteries;  and

WHEREAS, the National Fire Protection Association reports that 71% of smoke alarms that failed to operate had missing, disconnected or dead batteries; and

WHEREAS, Energizer has offered to donate 240 9-volt batteries valued at $324.00 to the Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to accept the donation of batteries from Energizer; and

WHEREAS, the  purpose of this donation will be to provide free smoke alarm batteries for residents and support the “Project Safe Haven” program; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts this donation of 9-volt batteries from Energizer, and thanks them for the generous gift.
