Accepting the gifts of conference registration fees and travel expenses not to exceed $4,500 from the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) and the Knight Foundation for three Public Works Staff to attend the NACTO Designing Cities 2018 Conference, October 1-4, 2018 in Los Angeles, California.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) has a mission to build cities as places for people with safe, sustainable, accessible and equitable transportation choices that support a strong economy and vibrant quality of life; and,

 

WHEREAS, the NACTO Designing Cities 2018 Conference, which will occur October 1-4, 2018 in Los Angeles, California, brings together 800 officials, planners and practitioners to advance the state of transportation in cities; and,

 

WHEREAS, NACTO received a grant from the Knight Foundation to support scholarships for city staff in Knight communities to attend the Designing Cities 2018 conference; and,

 

WHEREAS, NACTO has notified Saint Paul Public Works that it can support registration costs and travel expenses up to $4,500 for three public works staff (Nick Peterson, Randy Newton and Fay Simer) through the grant from the Knight Foundation;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul accepts the gift of registration fees and travel expenses for up to $4,500 for three Public Works staff; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City thanks NACTO and the Knight Foundation for this opportunity to further transportation design and planning in Saint Paul.
