Accepting the gift of airfare, lodging, and expenses associated with travel from the National League of Cities for Kaohly Her, Mayor Carter’s Policy Director, to attend the Promoting An Alignment Framework to Build An Early Learning Nation Cross-Site meeting.

WHEREAS, Kaohly Her, Policy Director, has been invited by the National League of Cities (NLC) to participate in a convening of local leaders from 14 cities in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 24 through September 26, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the NLC is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities; and
WHEREAS, the NLC works in partnership with the 49 state municipal leagues and serves as a resource to and an advocate for the more than 19,000 cities, villages, and towns it represents; and
WHEREAS, the NLC, in partnership with W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is hosting a meeting with city leaders to provide technical assistance to help mayors, council members, and city staff advance a strong programmatic and policy agenda around early childhood at the local level; and
WHEREAS, the conveners and participants have expertise and experience to provide guidance and insight on policies that impact Saint Paul’s early childhood initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the NLC has offered to cover airfare, lodging and travel expenses associated with Kaohly Her’s participation in the meeting; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the offer to cover the airfare, lodging, and travel expenses not to exceed $1,000 for Kaohly Her to attend the Promoting An Alignment Framework to Build An Early Learning Nation Cross-Site meeting with city leaders and thanks National League of Cities for its generous gift.
