Institute of Museum and Library Services Gift Acceptance Resolution
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library Agency was asked to participate in a civic data workshop led by the University of Pittsburgh and supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Civic Data Workshop is to encourage collaboration between libraries and partners to improve the public's access to civic data; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library and the Office of Technology and Communications have been selected as a library and civic data intermediary team; and
WHEREAS, the grant will require that one Library staff member attend a participatory design workshop in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 14, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Institute of Museum and Library Services has offered to pay a $750 stipend for the costs of travel, meals and lodging for two city participants; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the workshop will further the goal of increasing cooperation between the Office of Technology and Communications and the Library to engage the public with civic data by providing information about how to access and utilize civic data produced locally; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Public Library Board accepts the gift of travel, meals and lodging for a Library staff member to attend the participatory design workshop and thanks the Institute of Museum and Library Services for it generous gift.
