Accepting the gift of accommodations, meals, airfare, and mileage from the National League of Cities (NLC) for a delegation from the City of Saint Paul to include: Chief Equity Officer, Toni Newborn; Human Resources Director, Andrea Turner; Department of Safety and Inspections Director, Ricardo Cervantes; and, Councilmember Chris Tolbert to attend the NLC Cities for Racial Healing and Racial Equity Technical Assistance Cross Site Convening in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 10 - 12, 2018.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the National League of Cities (NLC) has invited a delegation from the City of Saint Paul to attend the Cities for Racial Healing and Racial Equity Technical Assistance Cross Site Convening (Cross Site Convening) in New Orleans on October 10 - 12, 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, the delegation will include Chief Equity Officer, Toni Newborn; Human Resources Director, Andrea Turner; Department of Safety and Inspections Director, Ricardo Cervantes; and, Councilmember Chris Tolbert; and

 

WHEREAS, at the NLC’s Cross Site Convening, the Saint Paul delegation will have the opportunity to participate and learn about ways to incorporate racial equity, healing, and trauma initiatives into the work of the city; and

 

WHEREAS, the NLC has offered to pay for accommodation, meals, airfare and mileage for the Saint Paul delegation to attend the Cross Site Convening in an amount not to exceed $1,100 per person; and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul find that attendance at the Cross Site Convening will be beneficial to the City of Saint Paul by enhancing the city’s equity framework; now therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the gift of accommodation, meals, airfare and mileage from the National League of Cities for the Saint Paul delegation to attend the Cities for Racial Healing and Racial Equity Technical Assistance Cross Site Convening, and thanks the National League of Cities their generosity
