Accepting the gift of $500 for travel expenses from Heartland Alliance, for Kaohly Her, Mayor Carter’s Policy Director, to participate in a Child Development Account (CDA) forum in St. Louis, Missouri from July 25, 2018 through July 26, 2018.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Kaohly Her, Policy Director, was invited by the Center for Social Development and Missouri State Treasurer’s Office to participate in a Child Development Account (CDA) in St. Louis, Missouri from July 25, 2018 through July 26, 2018; and

 

WHEREAS, the Center for Social Development is the leading research institution and advocate of College Savings Accounts (CSA); and

 

WHEREAS, the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office is a major supporter of education funding and runs the state’s 529 plan; and

 

WHEREAS, the Center for Social Development and Missouri State Treasurer’s Office partnered together to host a forum to convene practitioners of CSAs and 529 program managers with expertise and experience in this field of work; and

 

WHEREAS, the forum participants and experts will offer guidance, insights, and best practices on policies that could help shape Saint Paul’s CSA program; and

 

WHEREAS, Heartland Alliance is a committed partner in Saint Paul’s CSA work and continues to provide resources and opportunities to CSA consortium members; and

 

WHEREAS, Heartland Alliance has offered to provide a stipend of $500 to cover travel expenses for Kaohly Her to participate in the CDA forum; now therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the offer to cover the travel expenses in the amount of $500 for Kaohly Her to attend a forum with practitioners and program managers on College Savings Accounts and thanks Heartland Alliance for its generous gift.
