Affirming and extending a local emergency related to the Wabasha Street slope collapse in 2018.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul experienced a significant slope failure along Wabasha Street between Plato Boulevard and Cesar Chavez Street; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Saint Paul, Melvin Carter, has declared a local emergency effective Saturday, April 28, 2018 to ensure the protection of infrastructure, property, and people related to the slope failure; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Saint Paul, Melvin Carter, requests the City Council of the City of Saint Paul to affirm and extend the May 2, 2018 Declaration of Emergency for the Wabasha Street slope failure;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul affirms the Declaration of Local Emergency issued May 2, 2018 by the Mayor of the city; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council finds that a Local Emergency does continue to exist in the City of Saint Paul as a result of the slope failure and extends the Declaration of Emergency for a period not to exceed 30 days from the date of passage, May 2, 2018.
