Authorizing the Police Department to accept the grants as awarded by the Saint Paul Police Foundation in the amount of $34,466.15.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to help the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) in many ways including insuring that public safety for our citizens remains the number one priority for our city; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation board of directors has approved the granting/donation a total of $34,466.15; and
WHEREAS, the grants will fund $17,933.42 for the support of the Explorer program and $15,024.50 for the Police Athletic League (PAL) program, $1800 for the Police Band expense and $1708.23 for the SWAT unit supplies and training, and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept the donation for which the public purpose is for community engagement and public safety; and
WHEREAS, the donations are included in the 2018 adopted budget; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extend its sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
