Accepting the gift of airfare from the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood for Kaohly Her, Mayor Carter’s Director of Education and Wellness, to attend meetings with administrators and partners of the San Francisco Bay Area College Savings Account program.

WHEREAS, Kaohly Her, Mayor Carter’s Director of Education and Wellness, has been invited by the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood to participate in meetings with administrators and partners of the San Francisco Bay Area College Savings Account program to be held in San Francisco, CA on March 20th 2018; and
WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay Area was one of the first large cities to establish College Savings Accounts for the children of San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, the meetings are an opportunity for the City of Saint Paul to learn from a municipality who other cities and states have modeled their College Savings Accounts after; and
WHEREAS, the administrators and partners have the expertise and experience to share best practices, answer questions, and provide guidance on how to implement College Savings Accounts in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood has been an excellent partner for the interests and betterment of Saint Paul families and students; and
WHEREAS, they have a shared interest in establishing College Savings Accounts for children of the Promise Neighborhood and partnering with the City of Saint Paul to provide College Savings Accounts for all Saint Paul children; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood has offered to cover the airfare expense associated with Kaohly Her’s participation in these meetings in the amount of $208.60; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the offer to cover the airfare expense of $208.60 for Kaohly Her to attend meetings with administrators and partners of the San Francisco Bay Area College Savings Account and thanks to the Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood for its generous gift.
