Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Volunteer Services, to purchase items in an amount not to exceed $5,000 for Volunteer Recognition events in 2018.
Body
WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory’s Volunteer Services received 48,230 volunteer support hours and retention in 2017; and
WHEREAS, recognition of volunteers and their accomplishments is essential each year to assist with volunteer support and retention; and
WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory’s Volunteer Services recognizes volunteers through support and acknowledgement during their personal successes and/or hardships; and
WHEREAS, the successful facilitation of a Volunteer Program and related expenditure has a clear public purpose and benefit as they contribute to services at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory resulting in budgetary savings; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory Volunteer Services is hereby authorized to purchase food items, flowers and cards for Volunteer recognition events, funerals, extensive hospital stays and any other events needing support through acknowledgement in an amount not to exceed $5,000.00 in 2018.
