Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Services through ServeMinnesota for the Law Enforcement Career Path Academy Program.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) has received a sub-grant from the Corporation for National and Community Services (CNCS) through the State Service Commission, ServeMinnesota, and upon final award approval, SPPD would like to enter into an agreement for this sub-award; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the need to increase public safety and improve the relationship between law enforcement and members of the community, CNCS has made police-community relations a priority and the SPPD will use AmeriCorps members to strengthen police-community relations within racially diverse and challenged neighborhood, through the Law Enforcement Career Path Academy program; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funds to support the SPPD with its efforts to making law enforcement more representative of the Saint Paul communities; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant award and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into an agreement for this grant award.
