Title

Amending the 2017 budget in the Department of Public Works General Fund Parking Meters Maintenance accounting unit to fund the implementation of metered parking on Chestnut Street between Smith Avenue North and Thompson Street and on Cedar Street between East 4th Street and East 5th Street.

 

Body

WHEREAS, parking demand on Chestnut Street between Smith Avenue North and Thompson Street and on Cedar Street between East 4th Street and East 5th Street is such that metered parking is warranted to provide desired occupancy levels, and

 

WHEREAS, Chestnut Street between Smith Avenue North and Thompson Street and the west side of Cedar Street between East 4th Street and East 5th Street are within the Downtown Parking District where the Traffic Engineer is authorized to set rates, time limits, and parking meter zones, and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works requires additional funding for pay stations, signing, credit card fees from additional revenue, and other maintenance costs, and

 

WHEREAS, revenues from meter payments are expected to exceed initial expenditures within one year, and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $40,000 in the Public Works General Fund; so

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor that $40,000 is available for appropriation in the Public Works General Fund, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis.
