Honoring the recipient of the 2017 Saint Paul Business Awards for the Reflecting Saint Paul Award category to recognize a business owned by a person of color that is committed to equity and empowerment.

Body
Whereas, the City of Saint Paul has a prosperous, engaged and thriving business community that is one of our city’s most valuable resources; and
Whereas, Saint Paul businesses provide jobs and services to residents and a solid foundation for our city’s growth and prosperity; and
Whereas, these companies deserve not only the city’s support but recognition for their many contributions to our community; and
Whereas, as part of the city’s efforts to recognize the outstanding businesses that call Saint Paul home, the City initiated the Saint Paul Business Awards to honor local businesses that provide critical services, contribute to our community, invest in their employees and are committed to our values of equity and diversity; and
Whereas, Element Boxing and Fitness, established in 2011, is a purpose-driven business providing that aims to keep programs affordable or offered for free to underprivileged and at-risk youth in the community, thereby creating a place of support and encouragement for youth and adults to stay active and healthy, firmly believing that "When you get strong, the community gets stronger;" and
Whereas, Element Boxing and Fitness is built by the people, for the people, and turns profits into resources that go right back into the community through Element-branded ventures, collaborations and programs, working with the general public providing exercise and training services, and also partnering with Ramsey County, Neighborhood House, New Lens Urban Mentoring, Minnesota Interns and the local community to help keep youth in the gym and off the streets.
