Honoring the recipient of the 2017 Saint Paul Business Awards for the Alice M. O’Brien Award category to recognize a woman-owned business that is committed to equity and empowerment.
Body
Whereas, the City of Saint Paul has a prosperous, engaged and thriving business community that is one of our city’s most valuable resources; and
Whereas, Saint Paul businesses provide jobs and services to residents and a solid foundation for our city’s growth and prosperity; and
Whereas, these companies deserve not only the city’s support but recognition for their many contributions to our community; and
Whereas, as part of the city’s efforts to recognize the outstanding businesses that call Saint Paul home, the City initiated the Saint Paul Business Awards to honor local businesses that provide critical services, contribute to our community, invest in their employees and are committed to our values of equity and diversity; and
Whereas, Urban Growler Brewing Company, opened in July 2014 as the first women-owned brewery in the state of Minnesota, has demonstrated their mission to bring people together through beer by helping to establish community among beer drinkers and non- beer drinkers alike, quenching the thirst of those that enjoy great stories of breaking new ground, persevering and succeeding along the way; and
Whereas, Urban Growler Brewing Company has lived their values by creating a diverse and inclusive community where all customers feel welcome, by seeking minority businesses or farmers for local ingredients used in their beers, by seeking team members that represent the broad community and firmly believing that we all want to be loved and accepted.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Saint Paul City Council, that we do hereby grant the 2017 Saint Paul Business Award in the Alice M. O’Brien Award category to Urban Growler Brewing Company
