Honoring the recipient of the 2017 Saint Paul Business Awards for the Small Business Excellence category to recognize a business with fewer than 50 employees in Saint Paul that cares for its employees and the community.

Whereas, the City of Saint Paul has a prosperous, engaged and thriving business community that is one of our city’s most valuable resources; and
Whereas, Saint Paul businesses provide jobs and services to residents and a solid foundation for our city’s growth and prosperity; and
Whereas, these companies deserve not only the city’s support but recognition for their many contributions to our community; and
Whereas, as part of the city’s efforts to recognize the outstanding businesses that call Saint Paul home, the City initiated the Saint Paul Business Awards to honor local businesses that provide critical services, contribute to our community, invest in their employees and are committed to our values of equity and diversity; and
Whereas, Kamp’s Food Market is a fifth generation run grocery store, open since 1882, serving their North End neighborhood 365 days a year, delivering to several shut-in neighbors at no additional charge, and consistently helping their customers and neighbors who sometimes “run a little short” at the end of the month; and
Whereas, Kamp’s Food Market exemplifies what it means to be a business that serves their neighborhood, through something as small as lending tools, to their support and involvement with the local school, coaching numerous sports teams and even providing jerseys when there were none, and being honored as “volunteer of the year” for their work in service to a neighborhood playground.
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Saint Paul City Council, that we do hereby grant the 2017 Saint Paul Business Award in the Small Business Excellence category to Kamp's Food Market
