Accepting the gift of travel and expenses from the National League of Cities for Mayor's Office staff member Ana Vang, and Parks and Recreation staff member Faith Krogstad to travel to the CCCN Implementation Phase Cross-Site Meeting, May 16-18, 2017 in Austin, TX.

WHEREAS, Cities Connecting Children to Nature (CCCN) is an initiative of the National League of Cities’ Youth, Education and Families and the Children & Nature Network; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation applied for (RES PH 16-04), and was awarded grant funding in the amount of $25,000 from the CCCN initiative to complete a plan to better connect children to nature in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, $50,000 was awarded (RES-16-2077) for the implementation plan to expand the NatureSmart Library initiative, establish a day camp for Saint Paul youth at Hidden Falls Regional Park, and address barriers to park use by communities of color by improving communication, park rules and signage; and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities has offered to pay for the flight, transportation, hotel and meal accommodations to enable Ana Vang and Faith Krogstad to participate in the meeting; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the City accepts the gift of airfare/ground transportation/baggage at a cost not to exceed $710, meals not to exceed $198, as well as two nights of hotel accommodations approximately valued at $950 per person; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City thanks the National League of Cities for this opportunity.
