Title

Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $90,720 from the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety for the 2017 Sex Trafficking Investigations and Training grant.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded the Sex Trafficking Investigations and Training 2017 grant from the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety through their Office of Justice Programs in the amount of $90,720 for a term of January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017 which includes an indemnification clause; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant is state funded (Chapter 65, Article 1, Section 11, Subdivision 6) and provides funding to support new or existing multijurisdictional entities to investigate sex trafficking crimes and to provide technical assistance for sex trafficking crimes, including training and case consultation to law enforcement agencies statewide; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2017 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $90,720 in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget and recommends the following changes; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota which includes an indemnification clause; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves these changes to the 2017 budget.
