WHEREAS, the Department of Parks & Recreation is prepared to accept grant funds from the State of Minnesota through the Department of Employment and Economic Development for the City’s youth employment program (Right Track), and the City Council previously authorized the Department to enter into the grant agreement; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Right Track youth employment program is to connect Saint Paul youth and young adults with meaningful training, work and career exploration so they are prepared for the workforce; and

WHEREAS, City departments and more than 20 community agencies have agreed to partner with Parks and Recreation to provide high quality work experience youth; and

WHEREAS, the City has a huge unmet need for meaningful youth workforce opportunities; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like permission to apply for and accept funds from DEED in the amount not to exceed $850,000; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like permission to apply for and accept funds from Saint Paul Foundation in the amount not to exceed $25,000; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like permission to apply for and accept funds from FR Bigelow Foundation in the amount not to exceed $25,000; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like permission to apply for and accept funds from Mardag Foundation in the amount not to exceed $15,000; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation would like permission to apply for and accept funds from Pohlad Family Foundation in the amount not to exceed $150,000; and
