Title

Authorizing the Police Department to enter into an Amendment to the Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota for the services provided by the department's bomb disposal unit.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department entered into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, acting through its Commissioner of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management division which includes an indemnification clause (RES 15-1616); and

 

WHEREAS, this agreement will allow for the reimbursement of expenses incurred by the department’s bomb disposal unit for assistance provided as requested by the State as specified; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota would like to amend this Joint Powers Agreement to extend the term through June 30, 2018 and increase the contract $50,000 for a total amount not to exceed $77,000; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves entering into and authorizes Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached Joint Powers Agreement, which includes an indemnification clause.
