Title

Authorizing the Departments of Parks and Recreation and Public Works to reallocate a total of $337,852 within the 2016 Citywide Right of Way Budget, transferring funds from Public Works to Parks and Recreation’s Street Tree Maintenance to provide the budget necessary to pay forestry costs related to the July 5th Storm.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation will incur additional costs of $337,852 in its 2016 Right of Way Street Tree Maintenance Budget as the result of costs related to the July 5th storm; and

 

WHEREAS, because of these unexpected costs, Parks anticipates being overspent in the Street Tree Maintenance Budget by year end; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has identified $337,852 of available funds in their 2016 budget to transfer to the Department of Parks and Recreation within the Right of Way Fund; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works and the Office of Financial Services will continue to monitor the Right of Way fund budget for 2016, in case additional snow emergencies in 2016 cause significant budget pressure; and

 

WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation wishes to set up a financing and spending plan for the reallocated amount of $357,852 in its Street Tree Maintenance budget; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.04 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are funds available for transfer of funds from Public Works to Parks and Recreation; and

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation from the Mayor, authorizes this intra-fund budget transfer from the Department of Public Works to the Department of Parks and Recreation, as shown in the attached financial analysis.
