Title

Establishing a financing and spending budget in the Department of Planning and Economic Development (PED) by adding a $50,000 Living Cities grant to support Saint Paul’s first-phase work with the City Accelerator’s Infrastructure Finance cohort.

 

Body

WHEREAS, On August 15, 2016, Living Cities has awarded the grant to the City of Saint Paul to expand the scope of research and analyze investment of Saint Paul’s shared, stacked green infrastructure (SSGI); and

WHEREAS, the funds will be used to supplement the existing contract with Ehlers, which has been hired to work with the City on SSGI research; and

WHEREAS, a portion of the funds will also be used to sponsor a design workshop for outside professionals to travel to visit Saint Paul.  The design workshop will provide a knowledge exchange for SSGI implementation throughout the region; and

WHEREAS, SSGI is an alternative approach to conventional stormwater management in order to increase economic, environmental, and community benefits through infrastructure investment; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does hereby certify that $50,000 in funds are available for appropriation in excess to those estimated in the 2016 budget and recommends the changes to the 2016 budget identified on Attachment A

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Saint Paul accepts this grant and approved the changes identified on Attachment A to the 2016 budget.
